Wednesday, March 17, 2010: STARFLEET Minimum Doubled!
As of this date, the USS Vre'kasht has doubled the minimum active crew compliment required by STARFLEET to remain an active commissioned chapter of SFI. Their required minimum is 10 members, we now have 20 thanks to our most recent member CRMN Justin "Bobby" Gallman.
I believe that our chapter has the largest number of members in the whole of Region 6. Our chapter has 22.22% of the total Region 6 members. That leaves 11.67 members each for the other 6 chapters of the region. That would be an average of 8.57% for each of the other chapters. -- Siran
Friday, November 27, 2009: Region 6 Summit '09
During the weekend of October 17th, our region, Region 6, held its 2009 Summit. Unfortunately, the Command Staff of the USS Vre'kasht could not attend the summit for finacial reasons. The Summit was held in Fargo, North Dakota and a trip there and back was just not feasible. Had Summit been held in a more centralized location, such as Minneapolis, Minnesota, chances are that the Command Staff may have been able to go. It's only about a 6 or 7 hour drive.
The USS Vre'kasht received one (1) award for the year 2007. It is not currently known if any awards were given for the year 2008. Awards are given at Summit for the previous year. Logically, there should have been awards for both 2007 and 2008 since there was no summit meeting in 2008. The award received by the USS Vre'kasht was:
[ NOTE: This award was a given since there were no other Chapters in Training in our region. To be honest, I feel pleased that we received this award, but I do not feel honored. If there had been at least one other Chapter in Training and the USS Vre'kasht would have won, I would feel the honor. ]
Along with the standard "[ Something ] of the Year" awards, there were individual awards given as well. Three (3) members of Region 6 received this individual award:
The recipients:
[ NOTE: This award is received for outstanding recruiting efforts. ]
I must say, here, that I do not feel the gratitude that one should feel about such things as receiving awards. Had we been informed a day or 2 following the end of Summit, I might be feeling differently, but it could also be the Vulcan in me. Information about Summit was not released until almost 6 weeks after Summit. And then, I had to post a message on the Region 6 mail list, yesterday, to get this information. I won't go into detail about the "reasons" behind the lateness, just that the information was late getting out. Now, to see how long it takes to receive the award certificates, if they even get sent out... -- Siran
Friday, August 21, 2009: About This Website
In May of this year, STARFLEET started up a new awards category, website awards. There are 4 categories to the website awards. They are:
I had nominated our website in the catagory of "Most Elegant". Needless to say, it did not garner an award this year. So, I decided to spruce up the website and will nominate it again next year.
I rebuilt the title page of the website to give it a LCARS look, like most of the rest of the website. It now has the same basic look as the ODN menu page has.
Next year I will nominate the website in the category of "Most Trekish". I looked at the website that won that award this year and really didn't see anything except the font that made it look "Trekish". The only other category that our website has a chance in is "Most Informative", although, in my opinion, our website displays the "Most Wow", too. -- Siran
Saturday, November 01, 2008: Vulcan Language Institute
Recently, it has been discovered that our beloved Vulcan Language Institute no longer exists in it's former glory. It has also been discovered that a reclamation project is underway to resurect the Institute. None other than the Star Trek Online people are doing the reclaiming. I have added the website url to point to the new location of the Institute and added the word (Reclaimed) to the link. Note, that this is a work in progress and will not look as the old Institute looked, for obvious reasons as you will see when you visit the new Institute. Regretably, the original founder, Mark Gardner, cannot be reached. The original link will remain intact in the off chance that the original founder resurects the Institute himself. -- Siran
Saturday, September 20, 2008: Website updates!
More good news for I.E. Users! I solved the left menu problem. It now works properly in all browsers, including I.E., that I have access to. Enjoy! -- Siran
Wednesday, September 17, 2008: Website updates!
Good news for I.E. users! I fixed the photo/image display problem. I had to add an extra line of code, per photo/image, just for I.E. But, I was able to eliminate another line of code, per photo/image, by combining it's data with that of another line.
I am still researching the javascript menu problem. -- Siran
Monday, September 15, 2008: Website updates!
Because these dynamic content items only change/update with each load or refresh of the page, I have added a script that refreshes the page every hour the page is in a browser. I believe this serves to enhance the experience of being on the website. I decided to set the refresh time to an hour since that is about the amount of time that passes before the Stardate updates.
Unfortunately, I keep finding things that refuse to work properly in Internet Explorer. I keep them documented in the updates in the "IE Users" page. The "Subspace Menu" and the photo display are my priority right now. I will continue to research to see what I can do to get these things to work in I.E. as they do in all the other browsers I test in. -- Siran
