STARFLEET Communication Codes
Code 1:
Signals either a total or imminent disaster, a possible invasion, or indicates that the Federation is either currently or about to be engaged in open warfare with a hostile power. The code requires all STARFLEET personnel within the affected area to immediately assume a 'war' footing or posture. It is also colloquially known as "Defense Alert", or a "Priority One Alert".
Code 1A:
A state of War has been declared. Contact with STARFLEET, on a secure sub-space channel, is required for further instructions.
Code 2:
STARFLEET encryption protocol that the Romulans had broken as of 2267.
Code 3:
This message from STARFLEET is for the Commanding and First Officers only. All other personnel will only be notified when STARFLEET deems it clear to do so.
Code 4:
During the act of war, no Federation starship will fire upon any humanitarian relief ship of the opposing side.
Code 5:
When a Federation starship takeover is imminent, by hostile forces, and the self-destruct cannot be activated, the Commanding Officer, or Senior Officer in charge, shall initiate ship-wide computer lock out so any hostile forces cannot take control and use the starship for any acts of violence.
Code 6:
This message is for Admirals only. An Admiral may discuss it at anytime with the Commanding and First Officer if need be. If the message is disclosed to Commanding and First Officer, Code 3 must be strictly followed.
Code 7:
Any ship approaching a planet must have open comm channels.
Code 7-01:
Any ship approaching a planet must not have weapons active
Code 7-02:
Any ship approaching a planet and does not respond, will be considered a hostile vessel.
Code 7-03:
Any ship approaching a planet must have shields down.
Code 7-04:
Any planet that is in Federation space is under STARFLEET protection.
Code 7-05:
Any planet may refuse any ship approaching permission to orbit.
Code 7-10:
Interstellar code prohibiting a spacecraft from approaching a planet.
Code 47:
Is an ultra-secure communications protocol. So secure that all traces of a Code 47 transmission or communication are automatically wiped from all computer records.
Code Factor 1:
STARFLEET code indicating invasion status. An unexplained time-warp distortion can cause STARFLEET Command to issue a "Code Factor 1"
Code Alpha One Zero:
Signal indicating the discovery of a space vehicle in distress. The detection of an automated distress signal is cause for initiating a "Code A10".
Code Condition Green:
Covert STARFLEET code used to secretly indicate on a clear channel that the speaker is being held captive. Condition Green also prohibits the listener from taking any action such as a rescue mission.
